I go through these spurts where I lose things. Important things. Like Amazon $25 gift certificates for contests that I’m planning to have, and gift cards, rebate checks and important forms necessary to Mr. A’s business future. I have a nice four drawer filing cabinet, now if I’d only USE it properly. The top drawer has some important papers in it, but has also become the family “junk drawer” where batteries are placed, and all kinds of office supplies or odd items. The second drawer has Mr. A’s extra pair of wedding shoes that he’s never worn. The third drawer has envelopes and yarn. The fourth drawer used to have wheat berries, until I discovered they had weevils and moved them into the freezer. Maybe that would be a good goal for this weekend, since I am looking forward to having my beloved Friday at home.
Thankfully I did find the Amazon gift certificate prior to beginning my 1st ever contest to celebrate one year of blogging here at Out of Debt Again which runs to September 27th, 2008 midnight PST. Along with the $25 gift certificate, I am also giving away a $15 gift certificate to CafePress.com, and $10 via Revolution Money Exchange.
My sister – whose phone is in my name – had to replace her phone and the phone company sent her a gift card for $50. I put it beside my computer monitor and promptly forgot about it. Then when I went looking for it, it had disappeared. I did finally find it. My youngest son, AJ, helps clean sometimes, and so I have all these boxes in my room with papers that used to be on my desk. The card arrived with MY name on it, since the account is in my name. My sister put out the money initially, so I had to write her a check for the $50. Now I need to remember to use the card!
Let’s see what else was missing? Oh, there was another Amazon gift certificate, but I found it. I debated offering it along with the other Amazon GC… but I decided to wait for another contest. I guess one more thing is still missing. A five dollar calling card that the bank gave Mr. A for a test I took (for him) to learn about having good credit.
Yesterday I finally found the paperwork for Mr. A’s business that we’d misplaced. Only I think it was another “AJ strikes” moment, because the paperwork was tucked away in a box in my closet. The paperwork cost me $40 to get together initially, and we still need to have another piece of it notarized. Mr. A had to get fingerprinted, too. That cost $5 and the local police stations only do fingerprinting on certain days during certain times we learned. Mr. A and I have probably spent 5 or 6 hours in the past week looking for that paperwork!
Needless to say I feel much better because all these things that are worth money, or would cost money to replace are all accounted for.
I really MUST learn to be more organized!!!
Yours Truly,
