Merry Christmas!

Merry, Merry Christmas!! Congratulations to Kacie over at Sense to Save who has a newborn baby boy born on Saturday the 20th!

Nearly an entire year has gone by, it’s hard to believe. I also can’t believe how fast Christmas swooped in on me. It always gets here before I know it, every single year.

Our Christmas this year will be very low key and frugal. From what I estimate, we’ll be spending less than a total of $100 on gifts for each other.

Mr. A already gave me my present (a Conair foot spa) a week or two ago. Mr. A always says he wants NOTHING for Christmas, but I did get him a navy blue sweatshirt. I got AJ a Ritz Cracker and sausage gift set; I wanted to get him something like Hickory Farms- Season’s Eatings Christmas Gift Package but Costco had nothing like it in stock, nor did Target. So I had to settle with what I found at Walmart. For Big A, I got a gift pack of hot sauces, kind of like this Gourmet Gift Set Spicy Six Pack: A variety of 5oz hot sauces in our special wooden crate. Includes Insanity Sauce, Jammin’ Jerk, Cool Cayenne Pepper, Crazy Caribbean, Hurtin’ Habanero, and Hurtin’ Jalapeno. I was hoping to buy this beginner’s oil paint set for Big A, but again, I waited too long. Oh well, it helped to keep the amount we spent down to a minimum.

My mother-in-law gifted Mr. A with this Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker. She got me this to match: Cuisinart Citrus Pro Juicer. She got AJ this Toastmaster Tall Can Opener. She got a few assorted art products for Big A; he loves to draw.

We’re going to have a spiral sliced ham (a gift from my employer) for Christmas dinner. I’m not sure what else yet. Probably potatoes cooked in some fashion. I think a big salad with lettuce from the garden is also in order. AJ made hot cross buns from one of our favorite dessert cookbooks today: Desserts From Your Bread Machine Perfect Every Time.

The Dark Knight begins showing on DirecTV for the first time on Friday, so we’re planning to watch the movie sometime during the day. We’ve been having a fire every Friday night, so we will probably do that, too. Last week it was so cold I had to bundle up in a coat and wear a knit hat! The funny thing is that AJ didn’t find it all that cold and was out there barefooted!

I hope everyone has a lovely holiday!

Yours Truly,
