Raising the Cash for Your Perfect Tablet

As the UK has recently seen, tablets and Smartphones appear to be the future in terms of access the internet. As reported by the BBC, PC sales dropped 14 per cent in the first three months of 2013, marking the biggest decline in sales since records began in 1994 and giving us a taste of what’s to come in the communications market.

If you are thinking of buying a tablet, either to replace your PC or as a handy addition to it, you might be confused about what you need and which to get. Added to this, the cost for most tablets is significant, so you might be wondering how you are going to pay for it, too. Here are some tips to help you secure your perfect Internet tablet.

What tablet?

The tablet you need will come down to personal choice and will depend on how you plan to use it. Some of the factors you need to consider are:

  • Operating system – will you pay a premium for Apple, or go with the more affordable alternative of Android?
  • Size – Most tablets are either 7” or 10”, and the size that suits you will depend on what you plan to do with it.
  • Wi-Fi or mobile – Tablets that are 3G enabled will need a mobile contract to go with them, just like a mobile phone. If you plan to only use it in the home, then Wi-Fi will avoid a monthly ongoing fee.
  • Memory – How much will you need? Will you store videos and photos, or just use it for browsing? Do you want to be able to expand the memory later on?
  • Camera – Do you need a rear facing camera? How good should the quality be?
  • Brand – Are you happy to pay more for a branded product, such as Apple, Samsung, Google or Microsoft, or are you comfortable going with a cheaper, less well known brand?

Once you’ve made some of these decisions, your choice of tablet should become easier. All it will really come down to now is price.
