Interesting little saga. I had always assumed, too, that if you marked a comment as spam, that blacklisted the commenter across the board.
You found a human being! I’d like to find one at Akismet…it would be nice to know why the program throttled my site at BlueHost. Am having to use a different spamcatcher, and really am tired of deleting the spam that gets through. Akismet was much, much better while it worked.
