I bought a Nikon Coolpix L100 through Amazon on Thanksgiving. I received the camera a few days later, and was pretty happy with it. Then I discovered, in spite of reading reviews all over the Internet and seeing it on Nikon's site with my own two eyes, my most favorite mode was missing. Fireworks.
So I put in a call to Nikon, and spoke with Rayni in customer service, who informed me that I was wrong, the L100 DOES have fireworks mode. She led me through the site to where I saw with my own eyes, on the Nikon website, the Coolpix L100 Fireworks. I told her that it really doesn't. I told her the user's manual says nothing about it, and the camera does not have it as an option. But there it was, right on the website. I took a screenshot, click on it to see it more clearly.
Not to mention every review or advertisement I've looked at all over the Internet says it has Fireworks mode. This is one of the reasons I bought the camera, because I love the Fireworks mode that Nikon has.

Okay, now I realize that all the sites above probably copied their data without really examining the camera. Obviously. Or, they just took the spec information directly from Nikon's site.
But back to my phone call with Nikon… Rayni apologized. But you know what? I wanted to talk to a supervisor. She didn't understand why. I told her, “Well, to start with, it's false advertisement for Nikon to have that on their site when the camera doesn't have the option.” She finally said she would have my concern elevated to Level II and someone would call me.
I waited several days, and no one ever got back to me.
Next I contacted them through their website. This was December 8th. I was told I'd hear back from someone within 24 hours. Well, it's been a few days more than that, so I go back to check today.
My case was closed because they said it was a duplicate.
So I opened a new case, still wanting to get to the bottom of this problem.
Then I checked Nikon's website for the L100, and what do you know?! The Fireworks setting no longer shows as one of the modes! But if you look here to Google's cached version of the page, just click on Tech Specs, you'll see that back on December 14th, it still shows that the camera has fireworks.
Nikon, I thought your customer service would be better than this. My son and I between us have bought 4 cameras, but if this is what your customer service is like, I may just think twice about returning my L100 and going with another brand.
Nikon, what say you?

Wow- those fireworks pictures were awesome! I would return the camera just because of that. That is horrible customer service. Have you tweeted with them about it?

Hi Mrs. Money, thank you for the compliment on my fireworks photos. I was very impressed with my Nikon Coolpix S550. I really like the L100 though, too! It has a food setting! I did not tweet directly to them, but “mentioned” them. I have not heard back from them. I am thinking about calling them this week and complaining again. I can’t believe they didn’t even have the decency to thank me for finding this glaring error on their site. Mrs. A
