My Snowman Collection

I’m really not a collector. I’m a packrat, but not a collector. Actually, my opinion of collections is they are just one more thing to take care of. When I was growing up, my siblings used to break my prized possessions, so I pretty much feel like “why bother?” I have to work hard to take good care of things, because my nature is to just not bother.

This “collection” got started accidentally about eight years ago. My boss buys all these little knick-knack things and everyone is supposed to get one. I don’t know what anyone else does with theirs, but I was taught it is polite to display your gift in appreciation to the giver. Especially when she comes into your office several times a day.

So I picked out a snowman that first year. I decided I did like the cute snowmen, so I picked up another couple that year at the Target 90% off after Christmas sale. Then I picked another from my boss and the next year and the next year. Soon, coworkers (and my dear boss) got the impression I was A COLLECTOR OF SNOWMEN.

I went in to work on Sunday to set up my snowman display. It’s really gotten out of control. Everyone LOVES it though! Everyone who goes by my office ooohs and aaahhs, and tells me how much they love my snowmen. I do like them, but seriously, I’m going to need a whole other desk in my office if I don’t cut down somewhere.

Please save me from the snowpeople.
