I found a nifty little template that will allow me to print to the IRS approved pre-printed W2s and 1099-MISCs (there were a couple of hitches which I’ll detail below).
We got a 3% cost of living raise at work; however, after increasing the tax deductions to where they should be after last year’s Making Work Pay Tax Credit, some people are actually taking home less money than they did last year.
I’m willing to bet most companies did not give a raise, so many people will be looking at a smaller take home amount.
Last year we chose to file an extension, so our taxes weren’t due until October 15th. I actually thought we were done on April 4th, and had posted about that but then I went and read a book on self-employment taxes and got myself all freaked out. This year I hope to have them done by April 15th. It is just too nerve wracking waiting for six more months.
Arizona has several tax credits available for individuals: Charitable Tax Credit, School Tax Credits, Health Insurance Premiums, and Water Conservation Systems. These few are mentioned specifically on their website. The 2009 tax forms are not yet available for viewing on the site, but the 2008 tax forms show there are quite a few tax credits available. It will be interesting to see if they have done away with most of … click here to continue reading Arizona’s Charitable & School Tax Credits
Whew. What a relief to FINALLY have them done, and on their way. I am still a little bit nervous that I have not gotten everything, but I have done my very best. I never did find an accountant, darn it! I am going to keep that on my list of things to do for the businesses. I really hope this coming year I will have our taxes done early, … click here to continue reading Our Taxes Are in the Mail Today
If you did file an extension, and if you haven’t already been working on getting your taxes prepared, you better get busy because your extension lasts only until October 15th. Oh, I scared myself just for a minute there, I was hoping it was October, and not September. Whew.
I haven’t done a lot of donating to thrift stores over the years. I tend to hang onto things forever and ever, building up my clutter nest in my bedroom. Therefore, I never really thought about how one would go about putting a value on the things they donated.
I’ve been asking friends and acquaintances if they have a CPA they can recommend. I have received a few recommendations, but several weren’t taking new clients.
Then the other day, one of our auditors came by to start the proceedings for the yearly audit at my job. While she was asking the normal questions, it occurred to me that she might be able to help me. I asked her, and she … click here to continue reading I Think I Found An Accountant
Since I take care of Mr. A’s transaction privilege taxes online, I get a monthly email with reminders, updates and changes to Arizona taxes. A couple of weeks ago, an additional one came through stating that Senate Bill 1185 had been approved and our withholding will be increased beginning May 1, 2009.
It’s not a lot, but Arizona withholding taxes are going up. Here’s a screenshot of the increases:
Whooo boy… one of my coworkers is in this boat. He had someone come into his house and help him get his home organized, and this included filing his paperwork. On April 15th he discovered he didn’t know where the person filed his tax information! The person was in Oregon and didn’t remember filing any tax paperwork, so my coworker ended up doing nothing that day, not even filing an … click here to continue reading Owe Taxes and Didn’t File An Extension?
