Meet Mrs. Money from Ultimate Money Blog

Today Mrs. Money from Ultimate Money Blog and I are exchanging question and answer posts. Mrs. Money is a frugal, crunchy-green young woman and she has a great handle on her and Mr. Money’s finances!

After you read her answers here, go over to her site and read my answers. And while you’re at her site, take a look around and subscribe to her blog!

Mrs. Money, what is your most expensive hobby?

Definitely knitting. I can spend a fortune on yarn if I allow myself. I’ve gotten to the point where I am realizing that my stash is quite large and I don’t NEED any more yarn. I will admit that I have spent too much money on yarn at times though!

Where did you last eat out? What did you eat?

The last place I ate out was at Whole Foods. I had some random things off their salad bar. I know I had tabbouleh, a quinoa salad, and sweet potato fries. Yummy!

Do you buy your lunch or brown bag it? Why?

This is one thing that I struggle with. I try to take my lunch every day because it saves so much money but sometimes I don’t get up early enough to pack it then end up throwing a few bananas and apple into a bag and eat that for lunch. I get the strangest looks from my coworkers sometimes! “What are you having for lunch?” “Oh, just three bananas, an apple, and a persimmon.” I realize that’s weird. :)

Do you wash your own car or take it to a shop?

You won’t believe this but last week is the first time that I washed my car in over a year. I think my hubby washed it once last year. At least it’s eco friendly right?!

Do you DIY oil changes or take it to a shop?

My hubby does them when he has time. I can’t stand to pay someone else to do it if he knows how!

Do you prefer to work for someone or be self employed? Why?

I would love to be self employed if possible. I’d love to do something I enjoy and do it at my own pace. At the same time though, benefits are important so that’s pretty much the only reason I work at the bank now.

Mrs. Money, have you ever grown your own food?

Yes! We have a large garden in the summer and grow a lot of food. I also can tomatoes! We froze green beans and squash this year, too.

What is the hottest you let your house get in the summer?

In the eighties. We don’t have super hot weather here but it gets humid and when it gets too humid in the house I get really cranky and I’m not nice to be around. The air conditioning goes on when I start feeling that way!

Do you use regular bulbs or CFL bulbs?

We use mainly CFL bulbs. They are better for the environment, last longer, etc. But truth be told, I don’t like the way they make the rooms look. I much prefer regular bulbs.

Who had the most impact on you as a child when it comes to financial matters?

My mother. She was always clipping coupons and combining them with sale items. She is still very frugal and picks things out of the garbage, grows a garden, and thrift store shops like crazy. I am so much like my mom now and I truly appreciate everything that she does and I’m so glad she taught me!

What is the most frugal thing you do?

Umm, cloth toilet paper? I know that may weird people out but it’s just pee so it doesn’t bother me. Either that, or hang dry all my laundry year round. Both qualify to make me a hippie, right? ;)

What car would you drive if money were absolutely no object?

A Ford Mustang Convertible, the Shelby Cobra one or whatever. The most expensive. And I would get it glittery pink with FLAMES.

Thank you, Mrs. Money! Now go on over to Mrs. Money’s, read my answers to the same questions and take a look around!
