Invariably when I think I have everything reloaded and moved over I find at least one program that isn’t present.  Like yesterday when I had some photos I needed to adjust.  Darn, my entire Photoshop Suite is at work.  The long holiday weekend would have been perfect for getting it loaded.  I do have remote access to my PC at work but the time lag drives me nuts so I’d rather not go that route until I’d exhausted all my other options.  Like using MS Paint or some other free program.  I’ve tried using GIMP before and checked it out again, but when I read this at their site I decided it wasn’t worth my trouble to try to figure out what this meant, “The GIMP team doesn’t officially provide any Windows binaries.”  I guess since my son has exceeded my computer knowledge it has become too easy to just yell out, “Help!” and he fixes it.  Why stress out trying to figure out what that means when he already knows?  Anyway, I moved on looking for something else easier to use.

PIXLR EDITOR – FREE ONLINE EDITOR

After looking at a few programs I found this one that you can use online called Pixlr Editor.  I was immediately impressed with it, and if you are familiar with Adobe Photoshop, this online editor acts very similar to Photoshop.  I found it was quite easy to use the program and was able to my photos within a few minutes.  Here are some photos that I played around with using Pixlr.  Here is an Arizona sunset.  I took the photo with my Nikon Coolpix L100 at high resolution so it was very huge and I was able to resize it using Pixlr. It’s very simple, you just “open” the photo, then go to Image Size and I like my photos to be about 800 pixels wide, so enter 800 in the top box, the other one automatically sizes by constraint and voila!  If you want to crop the photo first just use the cropping tool which you can find in the toolkit bar on the left, it’s a tall and narrow rectangle and looks like a box with dotted lines. Click on that, then go over to your photo and select the area you want to crop. Then go to Image in the menu bar at top and select Crop.

Next I tried using the Kaleidoscope filter to create this image. Isn’t this cool looking? I’ve always loved Kaleidoscopes.

Here I changed the Hue and Saturation to blues:

And one more change where I altered the Kaleidoscope settings and changed the Hue and Saturation to pinks:

And here is the regular photo which I then used the filter Night Vision, and then I typed in my blog URL at the bottom:
