Catchy little phrase, eh? “My computer works, does yours?” is the slogan for My Computer Works. My Computer Works offers computer support in your home via your Internet connection. Did you ever wish you had someone you could call when you have a problem with your computer but didn't know who to turn to? Has your teenaged son or daughter moved out of the house and now you don't have a computer mentor right in the house? Are you familiar with computers, but just don't have the time or desire to figure out the problem?
Wouldn't it be great to have someone to call who could remotely connect to your computer and just fix your problem without having to lug it into the nearest computer shop?
Then you are the perfect candidate for My Computer Works. The program with which I'm most familiar is Windows PC Support Membership and it runs $24.95 a month. You have to sign a contract for a one year's subscription and there is a $69.95 initial activation fee. There is also an option to pay for the entire year at once, which will save you $35 over paying month to month.
What do you get for $24.95 a month?
- Unlimited support for one computer.
- For any problem with your computer you may have, call My Computer Works. For example, if you have a question about Microsoft Excel, if your computer is running slow, or if you think you have a virus, give them a call.
- My Computer Works technicians are based in the United States.
How does it work?
Once you and your computer are subscribed to the service and the preliminary checks have been done, when you have a problem simply call the toll free number between the hours of 8am and 10pm. Your call will be answered by a live person who will connect you with a qualified technician. In the event that all technicians are busy you will receive a call back within one to four hours. Once you are speaking with a technician you will be asked a few questions to help them assess your problem, and will then be asked to give the technician permission to connect remotely to your computer. You may then stay right there and watch what they are doing, or you can go about your business and let them solve the problem for you.
In addition to the basic service Windows PC Support Membership, My Computer Works also offers other service plans:
- Executive Service Membership includes secure online data backup with guaranteed return calls in 30 minutes.
- Priority One Membership guarantees that your call is returned within 60 minutes.
- Remote Data Backup
- One Time Tune Up
- Single Support Incident
- PDA to PC Synchronization
- and they even provide on-site service!
Does my computer and Internet connection qualify?
As of this writing, you must have high-speed Internet with a minimum of 256Kb/s, Windows 7, Vista, XP, MCE or Tablet Edition, and you must have Admin account on the PC. Please click here to get a more detailed answer to this question at the My Computer Works Frequently Asked Questions page.

Listen to what My Computer Works clients are saying about this fantastic company. My Computer Works has a lot of happy customers! Here is their Facebook page, Youtube page and you can follow them on Twitter.
My Computer Works is providing a service that is not only becoming more important in this digital age, but they are also saving gasoline and emissions from automobiles since all technicians work from home. Instead of driving to your house or business, they remotely connect to your computer and in 2007 estimated they would save 36,500 gallons of gasoline per year! I am really impressed by this company and am proud to offer this review for a locally owned business. Please note, even though this service is based in Arizona, they have customers across the United States so check them out today!
I was not paid to review My Computer Works. However, as an affiliate if you click on the link and sign up with My Computer Works, I will be paid for referring you.
It sounds like a great idea but that seems really expensive and it wouldn’t really work if your problem had to do with connecting to the Internet.
I’m a techie though, so I’m often the one that family and friends turn to for fixing problems, so I guess I’m jaded a bit 😉

@Money Beagle, so when you start getting overwhelmed by everyone coming to you with their computer problems, you’ll know of a good place to send people. 🙂 I actually think it’s a pretty darned good price for a person who isn’t technically talented like yourself.

For $25/month you can call me! LOL! Wow – I’m using my skills in the wrong way, I think! Yes, it’s nice to be able to call someone, but how often do you need help? That’s amazing. More power to them, though!

@Sheila, I know more people who are computer illiterate than like you and I, so I think My Computer Works is a great option. And it’s really not that much to pay for all the help they can provide. I know more than once I’ve had a virus on my computer, it’s inevitable that we’ll all have one eventually and I spent hours and hours researching how to eradicate it. My time is valuable and also my brain power. And my stress level. This company deals with viruses on a daily basis and one quick call to them, they know exactly what to do to get rid of it. This is just one example I can think of. I don’t get a virus every single year, but I am very computer savvy. I have a sister who is younger than me and not as savvy and she’s always having her computer crash due to virus problems. It would be highly worth her while to pay $25/month to keep her computer running. Anyway, I guess to my normal readers it wouldn’t make any sense to use a company like this, but like I told Money Beagle if you ever know of anyone who could use something like this, you at least know of a company that you could consider recommending.

I am a telecommuter and work weekends writing articles to make extra cash. You are right on target – more and more people are totally dependent on their PC for income. Because PCs have problems due to the constant evolution of the applications, your business will grow and grow. I recommend that (if not already doing this) create a Squidoo Lens about your business. Lot’s of non-tech people read the techie news there. Josh
