Looking for a way to calculate your gasoline usage? Look no further, download my free Excel spreadsheet calculator. If you don't have Microsoft Excel this calculator also works with OpenOffice which is a free office suite similar to Microsoft Office.
My daily commute to work is 100 miles round trip, and I always set aside the amount of money I need for gasoline at each payday. For example, one of my pay days is the last day of the month. I know that I need to hold out enough money for gasoline until my next pay day, which is on the 15th. I drive into the office three days a week so I go to the calender and count how many days I'm going to be driving in to work. If it's six days, then I know I'll be driving approximately 600 miles until the next pay period. If it's seven days, I know I'll be driving 700 miles. Using my Excel calculator I can type in the current cost of gasoline, and get an idea of how much money needs to be held back to pay for the gasoline.
This has really come in handy when money is a little tight because I am not totally guessing how much money to hold back. You know how it is when you are on a budget and every dollar counts!
There are a few other handy things to learn from my Gasoline Calculator. You can also figure out how many miles per gallon your car is getting. This is very helpful for understanding how your vehicle is performing. Say for example, you are accustomed to getting 22 miles to the gallon but suddenly you are only getting 17 miles to the gallon. This is a clear indication that something is wrong. It could be that your tires don't have enough air, or they may have too much air, or maybe you just got some bad gas.
You can also get an idea of how much you'll be paying for commute is the cost of gasoline goes up. Just type in a higher amount and the calculator will figure it all out for you.
It's harder to calculate how much gas Mr. A is going to use because he does a lot more driving than I do, and he has his own business.
You can learn things like:
- How many miles per gallon is my vehicle getting?
- How much does it cost me to drive one mile in my vehicle?
- How much will it cost me to drive xx miles in my vehicle?
- How much will it cost me to drive xx miles for xx days in my vehicle?
- How much money will I spend on gas if the price goes up to xx?
- How much will I spend on gas for one month’s worth of driving?
